Materuni is one of the most rewarding and accessible day experiences on the slopes of Kilimanjaro e a hike through the traditional Chagga homeland to a spectacular 80-metre waterfall hidden in the lush montane forest above Moshi. The trail passes through active coffee farms, banana groves, and small Chagga villages, offering an intimate glimpse into the agricultural and cultural life of the Kilimanjaro foothills. The waterfall itself e a powerful curtain of water dropping into a cold, clear pool e is one of the most beautiful in Tanzania. After the hike, a traditional coffee tour with the Chagga community demonstrates the full process from red coffee cherry to roasted bean to freshly ground cup, ending with a coffee ceremony under the trees.
