Zanzibar is a year-round destination, but each season has its own character. Here's when to come for beaches, diving, and the spice island in full bloom.
Everything you need to know before booking a Zanzibar package with Haven Trails Adventures.
All packages include private 4WD transfers, accommodation for the listed nights, a dedicated local guide, all guided excursions, and breakfast daily. Most guests fly directly into Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) from Dar es Salaam (30 min), Arusha (1 hr), or Kilimanjaro (1 hr) on Precision Air, Air Tanzania, or Coastal Aviation. We can arrange all domestic flights as an add-on, and arrange your airport welcome and transfer the moment you land.
Absolutely. This is one of our most popular combinations. A classic itinerary is a 6-8 day northern safari followed by 4-6 days in Zanzibar. The safari gives you the savannah wildlife experience; Zanzibar is where you decompress on the beach. We handle all flights, logistics and pacing between the two elements seamlessly.
We recommend the 5-Day Classic for first-time visitors. It strikes the ideal balance between Stone Town, a spice tour, beach time and water activities without overwhelming your schedule. If you have more time, the 6-Day Full Island is our most complete introductory experience, covering every main region of the island.
Zanzibar is considered very safe for tourists. It has one of the lowest crime rates in East Africa. As with any destination, basic precautions apply: keep valuables secure in Stone Town, use reputable operators for water activities and follow your guide's advice. Haven Trails guides are with you for every excursion day and your accommodation is carefully vetted.
Zanzibar is part of Tanzania, so standard Tanzania visa rules apply. Most nationalities can obtain a Tanzania e-visa online in advance, or a visa on arrival at Zanzibar International Airport. We send all clients a pre-departure briefing with visa requirements specific to your passport. Always double-check with your country's embassy before travel.
Tell us how many days you have, what pace you love and whether you're combining with a safari. We'll craft an itinerary that fits you. And handle every detail from your first flight to your final sunset dhow cruise.
