Chemka Hot Springs à locally known as Kikuletwa à is the most magical natural swimming hole in Tanzania. Natural spring water, warmed by geothermal activity deep in Kilimanjaro's volcanic roots, emerges from the earth and fills a series of extraordinary pools of crystalline clarity. The springs are surrounded by dense riverine palm forest à a dramatic contrast to the dry plains visible just beyond the tree line. The water is warm (approximately 28à32àC), endlessly clear, and deep enough for swimming and floating. Rope swings hang from the trees above the main pool. It is a place so beautiful that most first-time visitors find it hard to believe it is real à and it is one of the least-known great natural wonders of the Kilimanjaro region.
