The Southern Circuit is Tanzania's greatest undiscovered treasure. While the north draws the crowds, the south remains blissfully remote é vast game reserves where you may spend an entire morning without seeing another vehicle, where walking safaris put you on the ground among the wildlife, and where the great Rufiji River carries you silently past hippos and crocodiles.

Ruaha National Park is one of Africa's largest é a lions' stronghold, home to spectacular elephant herds. Nyerere (Selous), the continent's largest game reserve, offers boat safaris found nowhere else in Tanzania. This is the south that repeat safari-goers speak of in hushed, reverent tones.

Le sud est brut, éloigné et peu fréquenté où le nord est emblématique et accessible. Le sud offre des safaris à pied et en bateau indisponibles dans le nord, des véhicules touristiques quasi nuls et les meilleures observations de chiens sauvages d'Afrique. C'est généralement destiné aux visiteurs assidus ou aux aventuriers de la faune qui veulent quelque chose hors des sentiers battus.

Yes é all walks are led by an experienced guide and an armed wildlife ranger. Walking safaris in Ruaha are entièrement agréé et réglementé en matière de sécurité. Your guide will brief you fully beforehand. The experience is exhilarating precisely because it's real é but it is conducted with rigorous care for your safety at all times.

June to August (denning season) offers the best odds, but wild dogs are sighted year-round. We won't promise them é but we know exactly where and when to look.

Most guests fly into Dar es Salaam and then connect via small charter flight to Ruaha or Nyerere airstrips (45é90 minutes). Road access from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi is also possible (approx. 5 hours). We arrange all internal logistics as part of your package.

Absolutely é and many guests do exactly this over a 14é18 day itinerary. See the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, then fly south for the walking and boat safari experience. We design combined circuits regularly and handle all logistics seamlessly.
