FAQ

Common Questions

Why combine Nyerere with Zanzibar instead of the Northern Circuit?
Nyerere and Zanzibar sit close together in Tanzania's south-east, connected by a short domestic flight, making this one of the most efficient wilderness-to-beach combinations available. It also means far fewer tourists throughout, on both the safari and the beach days.
Is two nights enough in Nyerere?
Two nights gives you an evening boat safari and a full day of game driving and wild dog tracking, which is the minimum to properly experience the park's signature activities. Travellers wanting more depth can extend to a 7 or 8-day version with an additional Nyerere day.
What is the flight like between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar?
It is a short flight of well under an hour on a scheduled domestic carrier. Haven Trails books and manages this flight as part of the package, with all transfers included on both ends.
Can I upgrade the Zanzibar accommodation?
Yes. The standard package uses a comfortable beach hotel, but Haven Trails can arrange upgraded boutique or luxury beach resorts on the north or east coast for an additional cost. Contact us to discuss options.
What is the best time of year for this itinerary?
June to October (dry season) is best for wildlife density in Nyerere and offers calm seas and excellent snorkelling conditions in Zanzibar. December to February is also a strong combination with warm, mostly dry weather in both locations.
